BHUMI is a "Center for learning Leadership" fuelled by a vision to create an equitable and strife free society by grooming transformational leaders across social and economic classes. BHUMI fellows will bring about large scale, holistic and sustainable transformation as a part of the process of becoming transformational leaders.
BHUMI Holistic Development Model
We firmly believe large scale development is a governance agenda and competent leadership across multiple levels of society is critical to fulfilling this agenda.
Our work is spread across five domains viz.,
- Education
- Livelihoods
- Health care
- Water, Environment & Sanitation
- Governance and Democracy
Our work also helps to develop scalable and replicable models of transformation that are owned by the communities we work with.
Individuals desirous of learning and demonstrating leadership for change take on community transformation projects. They learn and practice in service learning frameworks by leveraging multiple stakeholder collaborations and overcome personal, social and systemic challenges to bring about sustainable change. In the process groom themselves into competent leaders and stand tall in their immediate societies as role models of transformational leadership.
Vision:
BHUMI will be a bench mark in grooming transformational leaders across social and economic classes to enable an equitable and strife free society.
Mission:
Bhumi will craft unique leadership learning journeys that enable individuals to bring about empowerment and transformation of marginalized communities while providing opportunity for the individuals to practice leadership in real-life settings.
Strategy:
- Identify/Adapt and Acquire/Collaborate existing tools, programs and resources viz., Roshan Vikas, Akansha Schools etc.
- Develop tools and resources when the existing tools, programs and resources do not meet our requirements viz., SELL (Social Entrepreneurial Leadership Learning Journey), Dronacharya and Ekalavya Mentoring Program, Freedom under Construction etc.
- Create programs using these tools and resources in communities where we work, arrange for potential leaders to gain experience through working with these programs and monitor progress.
- Document all tools and resources, thus create a knowledge base to share experience on the use of these tools.
- Create a pipeline of BHUMI fellows who will be practitioners, leaders and mentors for others who follow them.
- Engage with Government structures in a constructive and positive relationship.
