BHUMI is celebrating the Joy of Giving Week through “Everyday Leaders”.
‘Everyday Leaders’ brings to light the work of ordinary people who have stood up as great leaders when the situation around them demanded it. Their work, struggles and achievements will be shared and learning will be drawn out from it about how anyone can be a leader in everyday life.
The Joy of Giving week is an opportunity for NGOs to showcase their work and seek support. Being held from 27th September to 3rd October 2009 across India JOGW is expected to see the participation of hundreds of NGOs and raise about 2.5 crores of rupees in their support.
BHUMI is organising a Panel Discussion on the 9th of October on “Everyday Leaders - Discover the Leader in You”. Mr. Vijay Ram an environmentalist; Nayeem, a community leader from Rasulpura slum; Satyavati, a SHG group leader in Ramachandrapuram who serve as great examples of leading for a change in their everyday lives will be the panelists and Dr. Jay Prakash Narayan, MLA, founder and president of Loksatta Party will be a guest speaker.
The take aways from this workshop for the audience would be
- Meeting people who are living examples of grass root leadership in the today’s world
- Networking with like minded individuals
- Understanding what being a leader means
- Understanding what are the benefits of living leadership in everyday life
- Learning how can ordinary people be leaders in their own lives
